Abstract
In this workshop we will use pretrained AI chatbots to support the creative processes and facilitate the Possible in interdisciplinary groups.
Based on a study by Ness & Søreide (2014) and Ness & Riese (2015), creative processes can be understood as developing throughout six different phases. The study revealed that creativity peaked in the three middle phases, where group members started to discuss and challenge new ideas. The processes were circular in the sense that group members took different roles (Ness, 2017) and went back and forth between the different identified phases when they were discussing. They explored different perspectives and scenarios, started to formulate ideas, and often failed to complete an idea for various reasons. Then they went back to discussing again, now with another angle. In this way, the three middle phases became a separate “room” within the process and were characterized by how many voices confronted each other and how they also built on different views. Consequently, this was called the “Room of Opportunity” (Ness & Søreide, 2014).
Based on these findings, we will have a workshop designed to help participants understand the six phases of creative processes and how to use different roles to leverage the “Room of Opportunity” to maximize creativity.
The workshop will include interactive activities and the use of AI chatbots to play different roles which enhance different perspectives and creativity.
By the end of the workshop, participants will have a better understanding of how to leverage the six phases of creative processes and the “Room of Opportunity” to maximize creativity in their work and how AI chatbots can be a supporting tool.
